The Emotional Aspects of Termination of Parental Rights
The Emotional Aspects of Termination of Parental
Rights is a two-day,
competency-based curriculum that helps child welfare workers better
understand the effects of termination of parental rights (TPR) on
children, birth parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, and workers themselves.
Specifically, participants will discuss ethical issues related to TPR, talking with children about TPR in order to lessen the trauma of the event, specific techniques for helping children cope with the emotional impact, the effects of TPR related grief on children and parents, and helping workers cope with stress and burnout.
